STOMPer Singapura was surprised to see an event organised by Singtel just for Filipinos here. The event reminded him of Starhub's special Euro Football package that was offered only to expatriates working in Singapore.
The STOMPer wrote:
"I was rather disappointed to see this Singtel promotion specifically targeted at Pinoys who purchase hi!-cards, including goodies and special deals only for them.
"The event is supposed to be for Filipinos to celebrate their country's Independence Day.
"I am confused. I believe no other countries' telcos have ever celebrated our Singapore National Day in their own countries?
"This promotion comes shortly after Starhub Cable TV offered freebies to foreigners (only) when they sign up for Euro Football package, depriving locals of the benefits as well.
"In such cases, are locals entitled to a Public Holiday as well as we are celebrating a National Day?"
